Tongiht's beer: The Duck-Rabbit Porter
Dark bread, chocolate (decent milk chocolate), caramel on top; dark dried/candied fruits just behind. Something like a typically porterish tang in the middle, through to the finish: tannic, vinous, juicy. Distant hints of earth and grass and coffee.
Kinda medium-bodied, gently-carbonated. A bit juicy and a little puckering. Finishes pretty quick and clean, pretty refreshing.
More tangy and vinous than most porters I've had, clearly (to my palate and my understanding of porter styles) in the English tradition. The almost-sour tang would have been much more the norm a century ago. Pleasant enough, but really not working for me tonight. Might be worth trying again, but I'm not likely to be in any hurry.
