Tonight's beer: Samuel Adams Longshot A Dark Night in Munich
Dark bread/toast, caramel, chocolate, traces of chocolate. Earthy-floral-grassy bitterness more than adequate for balance. Dries out quickly and pretty thoroughly, but for a brief fruity flicker on the back end.
Mouthfeel is pretty much right in the middle of medium-bodied, with copious carbonation. Drying and surprisingly refreshing. A little bready/syrupy stickiness on the finish.
Quite a nice Münich dunkel—a beer that really wants to go with food. A bit of a shame this is all we have of it. Complex and balanced and well-integrated. A beautiful beer in the glass, and very drinkable.
