Tonight's beer: Coney Island Human Blockhead
Toasty caramel and chocolate on top, with distinctly nutty-nougatty character. Earthy-grassy bitterness emerges in middle, lingers through finish. Dark fruits flash past, along with impressions of whiskey and rum, maple and molasses.
Bready-thick and smooth; a little viscous, but feels decently-carbonated. A touch of pleasant boozy warmth on slightly-syrupy finish. Gently drying and immensely satisfying.
It's a big doppelbock (American Imperial Bock is just a trace nonsensical) and it's a very good one. Clearly strong, but graceful and sturdy and not at all flashy. Intense and complex and balanced and integrated. Very drinkable.
