Great Lakes Commodore Perry

Tonight's beer: Great Lakes Commodore Perry

Great Lakes Commodore Perry

Fruity—citrus and tropical fruits (pineapples, bananas, maybe more exotic things) and maybe a touch of melons and pale stonefruit—backed with strong whacks of pine, flowers, and grass. Background layers of gently-toasted white bread, caramel, honey, maybe something like treacle. Dries out into and through the finish, on distinctly flinty impressions.

Pulpy and juicy mouthfeel, tending very much toward the light-bodied, with tons of carbonation. Drying and very cleansing—practically scrubbing—but very pleasant. Maybe a gentle alcohol prickle. Slightly resinous-sticky finish.

Yummy as hell. Massive and complex bitterness, but the beer somehow still manages to be balanced and well-integrated. Lots of citrus juice; drinkable to the point of slurpable. A little on the strong side at 7.5% ABV, but there's essentially no warning. Another superb beer, a big time winner, from Great Lakes.
