Tonight's beer: Lagunitas Lucky 13.alt
Musky tropical fruits run rampant, stampeding over citrus and melons and pine. Caramel and toast struggle briefly against the tide, then are mercilessly swept away. In the vacuum left behind, flowers bloom and grass rustles in the wind. Dim hints of spice waft past in the wake.
Medium-bodied, with good carbonation; some bready chewy stickiness into the long and drying and very refreshing finish. The only warning of the 8.8% ABV is a gentle prickle. Cleansing and almost scrubbing.
A very yummy beer, laden with hoppy character, barely balanced by some malty impressions. Intense, complex, and integrated; stunningly drinkable. Everyone should remember a thirteenth anniversary with something as good as this beer.
