Tonight's beer: Ommegang BPA
Lots of pale fruits on top—pears, apples, muscats, apricots—but very dry (startlingly dry); pale bread and toast merging in underneath. Grassy-floral bitterness crackles in the middle, through to the finish. Impressions of tropical fruits around the horizon, along with dim possibilities of spice.
Very light-bodied, with a lot of carbonation. Drying, clean, cleansing, refreshing. Quick and snappy—bristling, almost—finish. Maybe a little gentle alcohol presence.
Pleasantly drinkable Belgian Pale Ale, pretty astonishingly dry but very refreshing. Lots of complex and intense flavor, nicely integrated. Definitely another in a long string of big-time winners from Ommegang. Yummy.
