Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Hop Sun
Grassy-floral bitterness on top of pale bread, with threads of caramel and toast woven in. Subtle fruity sweetness counterpoised by undertones of pine and spice and peppery wheat. Finish is dry and quick.
Very light-bodied, with decent carbonation. Drying and immensely refreshing. Something almost bristly on the finish.
A very drinkable, very hops-focused American wheat beer. Lots of flavor—intense and balanced. I love this beer—it's something I buy a six of every year—but it always seems to catch me off guard, at least a little. Hopped like an aggressive Pilsner, with a body more like a wheat beer. Tasty, indeed.
