Tonight's beer: Uinta Dubhe
Opens with a blast of citrus, pine, and dark chocolate, with caramel, nuts, earth, flowers, and grass filling in behind. Dark bread and toast more in the background/substructure, with some dim impressions of dark baking spice lurking somewhere.
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, with decent carbonation; kinda chewy and kinca sticky. Not much trace of the 9.2% ABV—maybe a slight tingle on the back end. Drying, scrubbing, pretty close to refreshing.
A very drinkable big Black IPA. Intense and complex and integrated; not so much balanced as layered bitterness on bitterness, hops on top of roasts. Very, very nice indeed.
