Urthel Samaranth Quadrium

Tonight's beer: Urthel Samaranth Quadrium

Urthel Samaranth Quadrium

Caramel and puddingy toasted-bread on top, heavy-laden with dark dried/candied fruits (think cherries and plums and maybe figs) and dark baking spices; hints of chocolate in the background, with a clicker of earthy-grassy bitterness. Dark spirits like brandy or rum, from middle through to finish.

Just on the light side of medium-bodied, decently-carbonated. Some syrupy/bready stickiness and a good bit of boozy warmth. Eventually, pleasantly drying. Pretty smooth.

An impressively drinkable quadrupel, a decent intro to a brewery I've been meaning to try for a while. Intense and complex and balanced and integrated. Boozy but graceful, and still deceptive for the clear and present warmth. Yum.
