Tonight's beer: Boulevard (Smokestack Series) Harvest Dance
Bread and caramel, lots of dried/candied pale fruits (bananas, pears, apples, peaches, nectarines, etc.). Traces of toast and baking spices. Floral-grassy bitterness emerges from middle through to finish. Strong impressions of brandy, I think . Eventually dries out pretty completely.
Very light-bodied, with lots of carbonation. Impressively smooth, with a trace of boozy heat. Drying and something a lot like refreshing, with a pretty quick finish. Cleansing but not scrubbing.
A pretty astonishing beer, if maybe a bit more weizen-like than I remember from before. Surprisingly balanced and superbly well-integrated; intense and complex and delicious. Hard to find around here, and pouring it required a great deal of patience; this beer is worth whatever minor hardship it took to acquire. Boulevard knows wheat beers, and this beer is just plain showing off. Yummy.
