Tonight's beer: Deschutes Inversion
Pine and citrus on top; flowers and grass folded in a bit on the underside. Bread, toast, caramel/juicy sweetness solid in the foundation/background. Bitter, then momentarily sweet, then very dry. Long finish with flickers of spice.
Maybe on the bready-chewy-thick side of medium-bodied. Pretty substantial resinous-syrupy stickiness, but decently carbonated. Drying and refreshing; cleansing and scrubbing without being scouring.
A very impressive IPA; massively drinkable. Intense as hell, incredibly complex (even if most of that complexity ends up being in the bitterness); nicely integrated and balanced. When Sara was living in Montana, this beer was easy to find, and we never picked it up. I wish we had, and I wish Deschutes distributed to my part of the world. This is a very yummy beer I could drink for days.
