Tonight's beer: Dogfish Head Ta Henket
Bready-caramel-toasty sweetness to start; fruity character emerges rapidly. Pepper, grass, herbs, spice assert themselves from the middle on, with hints of flowers and funk in the distance. Dries out quickly and thoroughly.
Light-bodied, with lots of carbonation. Cleansing and very refreshing. Something like cayenne (zatar can have red pepper in hit) tingles a bit on the back of my palate. Pretty clean—just the barest trace of stickiness.
A tasty and fascinating beer. Surprisingly flavorful and complex for 4.5% ABV. Savory enough that it's easy to imagine having with food; I find a lot of similarities in the flavor to the Saison du BUFF—thyme is powerful stuff, I guess. Another yummy recreation of a pre-historic potable from Dogfish Head.
