Tonight's beer: DuClaw Mad Bishop
Toast and caramel very much on top. Grassy-floral bitterness, with traces of earth, barely adequate to balance the malty sweetness. Possibilities of nuts, toffee, nougat, dried fruits, and spices way off in the distance.
Body is just a tad on the bready-thick side of medium. Decently carbonated, but still manages to be a little chewy. A little sticky on the finish, but mostly clean; pleasantly refreshing.
A nicely drinkable Oktoberfest lager, pretty much spot-on for the style. Tasty—intense and complex. Lots to recommend here, if you're up for drinking what's essentially a Fall Seasonal in August.
