Firestone Walker Wookey Jack

Tonight's beer:

Firestone Walker Wookey Jack

Tons of bitterness—mostly piney and grassy, with impressions of flowers and citrus. Roasty-toasty bitterness right behind—coffee, chocolate, burht toast, rye, dark bread. Maybe a lick of caramel and of burnt fruit way off in the distance; dim possibilities of earth, peat, smoke.

Maybe a little thicker than medium-bodied, a little bready-chewy, nicely carbonated. Some mostly-resinous stickiness (some syrupy and bready elements here) on a long and drying finish. Scrubbing and cleansing, almost scrubbing.

Yummy! Intense and complex and beautifully integrated. After the misadventure that was last night's beer, I definitely needed a really superior beer; this definitely qualifies. I'm happy this beer finally showed up around here, even if it did take a few months. A great beer from Firestone Walker.
