Flying Dog El Dorado Single Hop Imperial IPA

Piney, grapefruit-citrussy bitterness, with strong floral and grassy impressions and a background hint of cattiness. Pale-bready background, with possibilities of crackers, toast, caramel, treacle, pale fruits (non-citrus, like apples and pears and stonefruit). Flickers of things like musk, spice, clear liquor (like vodka, primarily) and tropical fruits dance around the perimeter. In spite of all those sweet-ish notes, overall tendency is pretty dry.

Right about medium-bodied, with what feels like pretty decent carbonation but might be at least partly booze. Resinous-syrupy stickiness, slight chewiness toward finish. Nicely drying and a lot like refreshing, with a trace of alcohol heat. A bit scrubbing, at the least, very cleansing.

A nicely balanced Double IPA, centered around a hops variety I don't know a lot about (or that I don't know I know a lot about, anyway). Intense, complex, integrated. Obviously strong (though I don't know that it feels like 10% ABV) but graceful and very drinkable. I like, very much a lot.
