Tonight's beer: Sixpoint Bengali Tiger
In honor, of course, of #IPADay because all the cool kids are doing it and yes if they were jumping off a bridge I would, too.
Citrus explodes (lemon, orange, and grapefruit, pretty equally-blended) with piny shrapnel and grassy-floral aftershocks/reverberations. A bit of bread and caramel, maybe a touch of honey and/or treacle. Finish is abrupt and quick, with a bit of something mineral or stony in the aftertaste. Sweet at the start, dry by the finish, bitter throughout.
Mouthfeel is just on the light side of medium-bodied, with decent carbonation. Maybe a little grittiness in there, somewhere. Gently drying and very refreshing; a little bit of resinous-syrupy-bready stickiness but cleansing by the end.
Mmmmm. A happy and hoppy IPA to wish me a hoppy and happy IPA day. Intense and integrated and very yummy. Lots of hops and lots of bitterness. This may have sat around a bit; I'd love to try it again fresher. It's very good and very drinkable now, though.
