Bell's Cherry Stout

Tonight's beer: Bell's Cherry Stout

Bell's Cherry Stout

Cherries and dark chocolate; tart blended with dark cherries. Coffee a step back; dark bread a solid background player. Some caramel sweetness added in. Traces of earth, leather, peat, and smoke; all very much in the distance. The beer never really dries out, but it's tart enough and roasty enough that it never really seems sweet, either.

A little on the bready-syrupy-sticky-thick side, with decent carbonation and a distinct tart pucker. Kinda quenching, tending toward refreshing. Decently smooth.

Cherries (and I like cherries) neatly integrated into a good big-ish stout (and I like stouts): It's hard to imagine a bad outcome, and there isn't one here. A very yummy fruity-sweet stout, kinda like a beery cherry-chocolate cordial. The kind of beer that makes me wish Bell's distributed to MD.
