Tonight's beer: Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA
Lots of bitterness front, top, center: Citrus, pine, flowers, grass; something like spice threaded in. Bread a solid counterpoint, with traces of caramel and toast and juice. Bitter, then a juicy-sweet squirt, then dry (and bitter again).
Medium-bodied, with a dollop of bready chewiness; nicely carbonated. Some stickiness on the finish—mostly resinous, a little syrupy. Thoroughly drying and very refreshing.
A very drinkable IPA—nicely balanced and integrated, with lots of intense and complex flavors. Practically slurpable. I remember having this long ago and being ... unimpressed; clearly, either that was slightly old (or something), or I wasn't yet to the point of really getting IPAs. This is very nice, and not so big as to become an event.
