Tonight's beer: Dominion Gigi's Farmhouse Ale
Bright pale fruits (lemons, pale stonefruit, other citrus, hints of melons and maybe bananas and other tropicals) backed by floral-grassy bitterness. Some pale bread, touches of caramel and toast. Dim traces of bright spices; a distant flicker of funk.
Light-bodied and copiously carbonated. Drying and very refreshing. A vague whisper of alcohol heat. Very clean throughout, and cleansing to the point of scrubbing (but not at all scouring).
A pleasantly drinkable saison, pretty much spot-on for the style. Big enough at 7.5% to drive some intense flavors, but plenty complex and remarkably well-balanced and integrated. A very impressive beer from Dominion; not the first beer of theirs I've liked a lot.
