Tonight's beer: Fremont Bourbon Abominable (2011)

Fremont Bourbon Abominable (2011)

Chocolate, caramel, vanilla on top; butter and oak, spice and candied fruits blending in. Impressions of toffee, earth, grass, peat, and smoke. Bourbon character (additional to the aforementioned butter and vanilla) emerges on a long finish. Lots of sweet elements; gradually dries out a fair bit.

Bready-thick and chewy; smooth and gently-carbonated. Only alcohol presence is a dim trace of boozy warmth: very subtle for 9.5% ABV. A bit viscous on the finish, and a little syrupy-sticky. Satisfying, and softly-warming in the belly.

Wow. This is a beautiful beer, with all kinds of intense and complex flavors all marvelously well-integrated. Drinkable to the point of being slurpable. Graceful, and subtle enough to reward close and careful attention. Very yummy, indeed
