Tonight's beer: Southern Tier Harvest
Grassy-floral bitterness comes first, lingers as pale bread, toast, and traces of caramel come forward. Come earthiness and spice more in the background, with maybe a soft touch of fruit. Never all that sweet, and stays pretty dry throughout.
Medium-bodied, nicely-carbonated; traces of bready chewiness and stickiness. Drying and very refreshing. Maybe a dim trace of booziness, mostly on the finish.
A remarkably drinkable beer, pretty much down the middle of what I've had for American ESBs. Beautifully balanced and marvelously integrated; intense enough to make an impact and complex enough to reward close attention. Yet another beer I really like from Southern Tier.
