Tonight's beer: Weltenburger Kloster Winter-Traum
Caramel and toast and good pale bread; toffee and nuts off in the distance. Dim impressions of grass and flowers and spice (adequate bitterness to at least keep the beer from being cloying). Mostly sweet, but dries out some from middle through finish.
Bready and chewy, with what feels like decent carbonation. Medium-ish body. A little vague chewiness and stickiness on the back end. Quenching, cleansing, and very refreshing.
Märzen/Oktoberfest is one of the most drinkable beer styles on the planet, and this is a notably drinkable example of the style. A beautiful beer to go with food, I reckon, and delicious on its own. More balanced and integrated than intense or complex, but plenty flavorful. *Very* nice.
