Bruery Autumn Maple

Tonight's beer: Bruery Autumn Maple

Bruery Autumn Maple

Maple, molasses. toast on top, with yams dragged in the wake. Baking spices galore, woven into a tapestry with some grassy-earthy bitterness to provide some balance, especially as the beer transitions from very sweet to something a good deal drier. Dark spirits like rum and whiskey off in the far distance.

On the light side of medium-bodied, with what feels like good carbonation—there's probably a fair amount of booze in that prickle. Plenty drying; more than a trace of syrupy stickiness, Only a vague heat to warn of the 10% ABV.

Wow. It's like the candied yams I haven't really liked since I was like ten, made into an awesome beer that seems to embrace all the beauty autumn contains. Massively intense and complex; superbly balanced and integrated. Startlingly drinkable—almost slurpable, in fact. As with any kind of biggish pumpkin beer, adequate to serve as dessert.
