Tonight's beer: Elysian Dark o' the Moon
Chocolate, coffee, dark bread; pumpkin, molasses, and nutty-toasty toffee a step back. Ample spice seems slotted in precisely; present but restrained. Earthy-peaty bitterness wafts by in the background, with smokey wisps trailing into the roasty-spicy-dry finish.
Medium-bodied, with some bready chewiness, and a trace of syrupy stickiness on the finish. Some very gentle warmth. Decently carbonated. Nicely drying, tending to refreshing.
A very nice—and extremely drinkable—pumpkin stout, with lots of flafor for a relatively moderate beer (6.5% ABV). Pumpkin and spice niftily integrated into the beer. I'm glad we picked this up on the Pumpkin Beer Spree a few weeks ago. Excellent beer.
