Magic Hat (Humdinger Series) Over the Pils

Tonight's beer: Magic Hat (Humdinger Series) Over the Pils

Magic Hat (Humdinger Series) Over the Pils

Grassy-floral bitterness on top, with hints of pale citrus. Pale bread and caramel/softly-toasted body and background. Some dim hints of pale fruits—apples, pears, golden raisins—lurking in the background, with a vague possibility of spice.

Medium-bodied, kinda chewy. Bready-syrupy stickiness, especially toward the finish. Pretty sizable alcohol presence. Drying, warming, toward the end surprisingly refreshing. Long and lingering finish.

A very nice Imperial Pilsner, laden with maibock character—completely in appropriate for the style. Bit and burly, with a bit of boozy presence for 8.1%, but entirely pleasant. A good start to a new series of big beers in big bottles from Magic Hat; in a style I'm very partial to. Yummy.
