Tonight's beer: Roth Sex Viking
Bread, mostly dark; caramel; milk chocolate; traces of something earthy. Something like bananas and dark baking spice struggling in the distance to make itself known. Never all that sweet, never particularly dry.
Light bodied, lots of prickle that seems more tart than carbonation; some soft bready chewiness and stickiness. Plenty refreshing and somewhat drying.
A pretty drinkable beer that only barely grazes what I expect from a dunkelweizen. It's a style that really should have more flavor than this does. Nicely balanced and integrated, but neither intense nor complex. Not an unpleasant beer, just a bit insipid; seems kinda a pity to give it such a great name.
