Tonight's beer: Sweetwater 420
Lots of bitterness to start—citrus (oranges, mostly) and flowers, then grass and a touch of pine. Pale bread, caramel, toast, and hints of something crackery nudging the beer toward something dimly resembling balance. Bitter, then a flicker of sweet, then dry out to the long finish.
Light-bodied and gently carbonated. Distinctly juicy, especially through the middle. Softly drying and immensely refreshing. A touch of bready-resinous stickiness on the very finish.
A very pleasant and drunkable Pale Ale. Lots of complexity and intensity in the hops profile, mostly integrated (but nothing like balanced). It's always nice ot try a new brewery to me, and I'll have to keep my eyes open for Sweetwater beers when I find myself closer to their home territory. Very nice, indeed.
