Toffee, caramel, dark bread/toast; dark dried candied fruits blending in—cherries, raisins, plums, etc. Some earthy-grassy bitterness emerges through the middle, with a ripple of chocolate and a sprinkle of spice floating past. Dark spirits—mostly brandy and rum—appear on the finish. Starts out definitely sweet-ish, but it does dry out a bit by the end.

Medium-bodied, decently carbonated, with just a dim and gentle touch of boozy heat. A fair amount of bready chewiness throughout; a bit of syrupy stickiness on the finish. Softly drying, and amazingly close to refreshing for 11% ABV.

Wow. A scarily drinkable beer, strong enough to be a sipping beer but subtle and deceptive enough to lure one into trouble and temptation. Intense and stunningly complex; marvelously well balanced and beautifully integrated. Yummy as hell.
