Tonight's beer: Weyerbacher Last Chance IPA
Grapefruity-citrus, pine, strong musky melon overtones. Oddments of flowers, grass, perfume, assorted tropical fruits. Bread, caramel, toast: not balancing all the bitterness; throwing it into stark relief. Juisy background notes. maybe a lick of spice/pepper. Bitter, then searingly dry.
Medium-bodied, kinda round and juicy, a little chewy, with some resinous stickiness on the finish. Bracingly drying and very refreshing. Decent mild carbonation.
A very drinkable IPA—sessionable, even, if that's your thing. Plenty of flavor: intense, complex, and integrated; not really in the same neighborhood as balanced, however. All that is clearly intentional. Entirely pleasant, and supports a good cause. Yay, and yum.
