Weyerbacher Seventeen

Tonight's beer: Weyerbacher Seventeen

Weyerbacher Seventeen

Pale bread and pale fruits (dried, candied, hints of lemony citrus) explode into my mouth, then the beer dries out so quickly it practically implodes. Grassy-floral bitterness arises in the aftermath, and escorts some bright spice and pepper into the light. Earth and funk lurk dimly around the perimeter and interstices.

Pretty light-bodied, with lots of prickle that seems to be part booze and part carbonation (in a ratio I am unable to determine); a bit of syrupy stickiness closer to the finish. Drying, with a hint of peppery-boozy heat, then startlingly refreshing.

Yum! Intense, complex, integrated, balanced. Plenty of stuffing to age a while, and lots of hooks to hang food pairings on, if that's your thing. Continues Weyerbacher's string of *impressive* anniversary beers. Drinkable to the point of slurpable.
