Alewerks Pumpkin Ale

Tonight's beer: Alewerks Pumpkin Ale

Alewerks Pumpkin Ale

Pumpkins, caramel, bread, toast; strong compliment of baking spices: Allspice, cloves, ginger, cinnamon. Distant flickers of butter, and of earthy-grassy bitterness. Spicy-sweet, but dries out a little. Dim ghosts of whiskey and rum.

Thick, syrupy-sticky, viscous, chewy; gently carbonated. Filling, drying, satisfying. Some prickle that's probably a decent blend of booze and carbonation. A bit of scrubbing/cleansing on the long finish.

Truly an excellent pumpkin beer: liquid pumpkin pie, with a bit of booze on the back end. Amazingly drinkable; intense and complex and beautifully integrated. I'm *very* glad we picked up a six-pack of this at the brewery. Beautiful and delicious.
