Boulevard (Smokestack Series) Love Child No. 2

Bright and fruity (mainly cherries) front and center, tart but less vinegary than it smells. Caramel and bread, vanilla and other oak-ish whiskey-ish impressions. Funky elements—hay, sweat, mold—linger around the edges. Dries out a lot through the finish.

Light-bodied, juicy-puckering, with what feels like lots of carbonation, Drying, quenching, refreshing; practically zero impression of the 9.6% ABV.

I'm not the biggest fan of sour beers—I'm finding the learning curve awfully shallow—but this is very nice. Come across as more like something from Flanders (red or brown) than any sort of lambic. Intense, with some come complex stuff in the background; nicely-integrated and clearly what the brewery intended. One of the most drinkable big sours I've had, even if it is a bit like work to get through it.
