Tonight's beer: Heavy Seas Small Craft Warning
Grassy-floral, vaguely-spicy bitterness threaded tightly in with toasty pale bread and caramel. Dim possibilities of nuts and toffee. Never cloying; substantial bitterness held nicely in check.
Bready-thick, smooth, soft, decently-carbonated. A bit chewy, a touch of stickiness on the back end. Drying and surprisingly refreshing, with a gentle brush of boozy warmth.
A niftily-balanced hoppy bocky beer, big and burly and impressively graceful. Tightly-integrated and intense; probably too straightforward to count as complex: appropriately so, for a beer that describes itself as any sort of Pilsner. One of the first Imperial Pilsners, and a very good one; also a superb beer with food. Yummy.
