Tonight's beer: Uinta (Crooked Line) Oak Jacked
Toast, bread, caramel, pumpkin; strong presence of bourbon—vanilla, oak, etc.—woven in with threads of spice. Some bitterness int he background: earthy and grassy. A flicker of smoke and ash on the back end. Kinda sweet-ish to start; dries gradually through and beyond the finish.
Kinda thick, soft, decently carbonated; gently drying, with a dim hint of boozy heat—but nothing like what I'd expect, given teh 10.33% ABV. A bit of bready chewiness and syrupy stickiness; a long and practically-eternal finish. Surprisingly smooth.
A pretty amazing beer, really. Not all that boozy, with lots of subtle complexities tightly woven into a coherent and very drinkable whole; for all that, intense enough to encourage and reward a slower, more relaxed approach. Beautiful in the glass as a bonus. Delicious.
