Dogfish Head Punkin

Tonight's beer: Dogfish Head Punkin

Dogfish Head Punkin

Caramel. toast, bread; elements of molasses, maple syrup, baking spices. Pumpkinny backbone, with what seems like a touch of butter. Earthy-grassy bitterness woven into the background. Sweet to start, then pumpkinny and bready, then spicy and dry.

A bit bready-chewy, softly carbonated, just on the thick side of medium-bodied. A sizable streak of syrupy stickiness. Drying, eventually; more filling and satisfying than refreshing. Maybe some dim and distant boozy prickle.

A very drinkable pumpkin beer, aiming at and hitting the boozy-pumpkin-pie-in-a-glass target. Intense, complex; holds together nicely, but tilts heavily to the sweet side (but this is clearly intentional). A beautiful beer from start to finish; completely delicious.
