Tonight's beer: Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Wild
It's like a tropical fruit salad. Citrus—mostly oranges and lemons—blended with pine and flowers and musk; melons, bananas, other tropical fruits, and grapefruits lurking in the shadows. Flickering and dim impressions of bread, caramel, spice (mainly cloves/allspice). Bitter to start, absolutely arid by the end; in between, just enough sweet to being the bitter and the dry into stark relief.
Pretty light-bodied and well-carbonated. A bit of resinous stickiness on a long and very drying finish. Pretty refreshing for as big a beer as it is, with very little boozy heat: maybe a slight prickle, nothing more. Graceful as hell.
Egad. I think I've had this beer before, but I didn't remember it as being *this* good. Lagen with Laguinitas' house character, even with the Westmalle yeast strain fermenting the wort. Intense, and if not balanced then delightfully delirious; lots of craziness forced and forged and formed into a unified whole. Astonishingly drinkable, and delicious from start to finish.
