Tonight's beer: Southern Tier 2XMAS
Nutmeg, ginger, juniper, maybe other spices lurking. Bread and caramel filling in around and behind. Dried/candied fruit sprinkled throughout, with some earthy-grassy-floral bitterness lurking in the distance. Never all that sweet, but dries out a lot by the finish.
Medium-bodied, decently-carbonated. Some bready chewiness and stickiness, but overall pretty clean and remarkably refreshing. Other than a dim and gentle warmth, no hint of the 8% ABV.
A complex and massively drinkable Xmas beer: seasonal joy in a glass. Intense, balanced, and beautifully well-integrated. A delight to all the applicable senses. Beautiful in the glass and delicious from start to finish. Less cookie-like than a lot of spiced beers end up being. Another big-time winner from Southern Tier.
