Tonight's beer: Sprecher Black IPA
Roasty and toasty, dominated by ash. Grassy bitterness with strong crushed-aspirin undertones. Implications of smoke and burnt fruits lingering on the edges. Burnt-bitter from start to finish.
Somewhere on the light side of medium-bodied, well-carbonated. Roasty-drying, with just a trace of stickiness on the finish. A bit coating, with a long finish.
A pretty disappointing beer, really. I usually like Black IPAs, and I usually like Sprecher. This beer, not really. Really one-dimensional, and not particularly pleasant about it. Bummer. Oh, well.
