Heavy Seas Peg Leg

Tonight's beer: Heavy Seas Peg Leg

Heavy Seas Peg Leg

Chocolate and dark bread, threaded with caramel and a touch of smoke. Earth, grass, peat, smoke wrapped in behind. Dim hints of dried fruits lurking around the edges, with maybe a little butter. Dries out nicely bu the finish, with traces of spice.

Kinda heavy-bodied, with good carbonation. Filling and satisfying and gently drying. Plenty of chewiness and stickiness into and through the finish. A soft glowing warmth lingers.

A nice bit stout, not so crazily bitter as some—the balance dinstinctly tilts to the malts. Intense and complex and beautifully integrated. The beer went extremely well in and with the crazy-intense chili con carne, and it's really excellent on its own. A good local brewer wins again.
