Red Brick (Brick Mason Series) Old Stock Ale

Tonight's beer: Red Brick (Brick Mason Series) Old Stock Ale

Red Brick (Brick Mason Series) Old Stock Ale

Richly caramelized toast, almost buttery (I don't think this is the off-flavor), with nutty-toffee background. Dried/candied fruits—dark, like cherries or plums—arise into and through the middle. Earthy-grassy-peaty bitterness present more in the distance, stronger around the finish as the beer dries out some.

Bready-chewy; kinda thick but not heavy. Decently carbonated. Pretty round and smooth. Filling and satisfying, with just a touch of boozy heat.

Impressive. Pretty spot-on for an Old Ale. Rich and drinkable, more subtle than intense, complex if you wanna pay attention; nicely balanced and integrated. Beautiful on a vaguely wintry evening. It's good to find good beer in Atlanta from a brewer I hadn't heard of.
