Tonight's beer: Stillwater Artisanal Of Love & Regret
Grassy and herbal to open: tastes like thyme and sage, maybe parsley, rosemary, savory, oregano. Some lemony-tartness through the middle. Bread and toast a solid background, with a flicker of something almost like chocolate in the distance. Peppery around the fringes. Dries out into and through the finish.
Just on the light side of medium-bodied, with decent carbonation. A little bready chewiness, especially on the finish. Pleasantly drying and tending hard to refreshing. Gently cleansing.
A very good beer—with a name that practically guaranteed I'd want to have it on Valentine's Day—from a gypsy brewer I've come to trust and respect a lot. Tons of herbal flavors, nicely integrated with the rest of the beer; complex and pretty well balanced. So much almost-savory herbal flavor it makes me want to have it with a roast turkey (or a chicken). Delicious.
