Sweetwater IPA

Tonight's beer: Sweetwater IPA

Sweetwater IPA

Big juicy citrus to start, threaded with pine, flowers, grass. Bread, caramel, toast adequate to provide something a lot like balance. Gets a little sweet into and through the middle, but dries out a lot by the finish.

Kinda light-bodied, a bit thinly carbonated. Scrubbing, cleansing, finally refreshing. Bracingly drying.

A very tasty, impressively drinkable IPA. Intensely and complexly bitter; nicely integrated and something approaching balanced for the style. Not so relentlessly over-hopped as some IPAs; I'd call that a good thing, for the most part. It was definitely worth arranging the trip to Georgia in such a way that we could pick up a bunch of local(ish) beers there. Yummy.
