Tonight's beer: Tröegs Nugget Nectar
Bitter up front: citrus (mainly oranges, tangerines, grapefruit) and pine, with flickers of flowers and grass. Juicy-caramel-bready sweetness through the middle, with threads of tropical fruits and toast. Bitter, then a little sweet, then nicely dry.
Medium-bodied, with some gentle fine carbonation: a little sticky and chewy—resinous, syrupy, bready—then cleansing and scrubbing and immensely refreshing.
Oh, wow. This is one of a handful of beers I insist on acquiring every year. It's beautiful in the glass, and delicious as hell—intense and complex; marvelously well-balanced and amazingly well-integrated. Probably my favorite hops-focuses beer, at least that I've had multiple times. Makes me wish we'd bought more than a six-pack.
