Grassy-floral bitterness up-front, with distinctly lemony citrus inflections. Bready-toasty-crackery semi-sweetness makes for decent balance. Maybe a touch of juice, a clicker of caramel. Bitter to start, very dry by the end, gentle sweetness caught in between.

Surprisingly light-bodied, decently carbonated. A gentle stickiness on the pretty quick finish. Drying and immensely refreshing. Smooth from start to finish.

A staggeringly drinkable Imperial Pilsner. I vaguely remember the collaboration beer this is based on (or very similar to), and I'm not sure I could muster a preference between them; this is at least very similar to my memories of that beer. One of the very few in the style that comes across more like a Pilsner than a Bock (even my go-to in the style, Heavy Seas Storm Warning, doesn't manage that). Intense, and more straghtforward than complex (though there are subtleties that reward those as pay attention); beautifully balanced and integrated. Delicious, and another big-time winner in Boulevard's Smokestack Series.
