Tonight's beer: RJ Rockers Fish Paralyzer
Lots of bright pale fruits, mostly dried/candied: apples, pears, golden raisins, bright stonefruit like peaches; some pale bread touched by toast and caramel and honey. Spicy-grassy-earthy-floral bitterness flickers mainly around the finish, and into the aftertaste.
Medium-bodied, kinda prickly with boozy tingle and burn. Carbonation is kinda sparse. Gently drying, a bit cleansing, less refreshing than I'd expect for the style. Something almost flinty or metallic lurking around the finish.
Color aside—it *is* a bit dark—it's a pretty convincing Belgian Pale Ale. THe alcohol is more prominent than I'd expect, but it's plenty drinkable. Intense and complex, and pretty well-integrated. It might have sat around a little longer than it should have, but the beer still seems pretty together to me. Good beer is good.
