Sweetwater Exodus Porter

Tonight's beer: Sweetwater Exodus Porter

Sweetwater Exodus Porter

Caramel and toast and dark bread, with lots of roasty character (mostly chocolate, but at least some coffee) and impressions of toffee and nuts on the horizon. Some earth and grass lurking in the foundation, with sprinklings of spices and dried/candied dark fruits. A vaguely stale tang is present in spirit.

A bit on the thick and bready side of medium-bodied, with good carbonation. Bready-syrupy stickiness, long and drying and refreshing; kinda round on the finish. Very satisfying.

A delicious porter, from a brewer I'm really starting to wish would distribute to Maryland. Intense and complex and delightfully well-balanced; drinkable to the point of being slurpable. A pretty straightforward take on the style, but an excellent one. Probably a beer I should buy more of, even if that has to wait until I make another trip to Georgia.
