Tonight's beer: Terrapin Pumpkinfest
Toast and bread, lots of baking spices—cinnamon, cloves, allspice, ginger; substantial dark sweetness: brown sugar, molasses, maple syrup. Sweet pretty much from start to finish, a touch drier by the end.
Maybe just on the light side of medium-bodied, and gently-carbonated. Lots of bready-syrupy chewiness and stickiness, especially around the aftertaste; softly drying.
A pretty drinkable pumpkin beer. There isn't really anything about the flavor or the body that'd different for it being a lager instead of an ale, which makes me wonder why a brewery would choose to make this beer this way. Tasty enough—intense and complex—and nicely balanced and integrated. A solid beer, for the pumpkin beer fans (and I'm one).
