This afternoon's beer: Sixpoint 3beans
Lots of mostly-roasty bitterness as an opening volley: chocolate a little more than coffee, earthy and grassy and peaty impressions merged in. Dark-bready-toasty-caramel sweetness emerges through the middle, with flickers of vanilla dancing around the perimeter. A dim hint of something mostly-burnt-fruity, and something browned-buttery. Dries out thoroughly and nicely by the aftertaste.
A little thicker than medium-bodied, syrupy-sticky, and bready-chewy; pretty smooth; nicely carbonated. Remarkably little alcohol burn, given the 10% ABV. Solidly filling and satisfying, gently filling. Softly drying, working toward refreshing.
Mmmm. Quite an awesome big and roasty beer. Not quite coffee-sominated enough to work for me as a breakfast stout, but that's nothing like in the neighborhood as a complaint. Massively intense and complex, beautifully integrated and balanced. Delicious from start to finish.
