Tonight's beer: Boulevard Amber Ale
Grassy-floral bitterness on top of toasty-caramel sweetness. Undertones of pine and citrus as well as pale bread. Maybe some brighter sweeter pale fruits off in the distance. Never overwhelmingly sweet, but dries out very nicely by the finish.
Medium-bodied, or just a little bit lighter, nicely carbonated. Drying and quite refreshing; mostly clean (just a little bready stickiness around the finish) and cleansing.
Unsurprisingly, a massively drinkable beer from a brewery I adore. Pretty intense, if straightforward; marvelously well-balanced and integrated. In the way of amber/red beers—ales or lagers—seems as though it would play superbly well with food. Delicious in a mostly-sessionable way, if that's your thing. Yum.
