Tonight's beer: Clown Shoes Brown Angel
Chocolate and toffee and caramel; grassy-piney bitterness right behind. Threads of citrus, flowers, dark toast. Dries out gradually but thoroughly into and beyond a long finish.
Medium-bodied, or maybe a little thicker, with lots of carbonation. A little sticky and chewy through the middle, then a pretty clean and cleansing finish that tends strongly to the refreshing. Pleasantly drying.
A nice brown ale, not crazily dominated by the hops, but more than hoppy enough for balance. Plenty intense, if a bit less intense than, say, Wilco Tango Foxtrot; nicely balanced and integrated. Maybe a bit less booze presence than I'd expect for 7% ABV. Drinkable and very nice. Not overwhelming, but very nice.
